The game essentially puts you in charge of running the business from Breaking Bad. You begin with going through the tutorial on how to build your base of operations, then make product, and move that product through different contracts that you can choose from. There are elements from such games like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, etc. The game features microtransactions, should you choose to purchase them. These Premium purchases range from Free (with stipulations) to $99.99.
As you level up you will gain access to higher defenses to defend your “Chempound” from other players attacks. If you successfully defend then your Rating Points increase, if you fail they decline. Other players aren’t the only thing you need to worry about either. Via the map you will be able to access “competitors” that capture turf from you. These are A.I. Opponents for you to take on, which will also impact your Rating Points as well. Also on the Map is the Player Upgrade Menu, the Car Wash (for “Dirty Money”), and City Hall (which gains you resources as well). From the looks of the map Turf Wars and Syndicates are planned for future release.
As mentioned earlier there are contracts for the player to complete. This is the way to get rid of the product that you make in your Lab in the game. The contracts will be different as well. Each offering different things for you to upgrade your base with. It truly is up to you, and all depends on what your next upgrade is that you are trying to implement.
Fans of the series will see many familiar faces available in the game. These can be both the good guys and the bad guys, and they can be deployed at your base to defend, or lead attack squads for when you attack enemies via the Map. You may find Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, Saul Goodman, Skinny Pete, etc. The list goes on and on. Each have specialties and can be leveled up, as well as their abilities.
There is also a Story that goes along with the game as well. As of right now there are two different Acts to progress through in the Campaign. It follows along with the show pretty well also. It will take some time to play through these, as with each chapter in the Acts, it gets more and more difficult. As of right now I am on the second Act of the Campaign, and slowly working my way through it. Here is to hoping more gets added in future updates.
Graphically the game looks decent when compared to other titles in the same genre. The cutscenes are good as you are working through the Campaign, sadly there are no actual voices though. The subtitles go along with what happened in the show, but it would have been nice to have the voice actors supply lines for the game, or if they could’ve pulled from the show itself to match up with the cutscenes.
Overall the game offers something for fans of the series. It doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, but fans will for sure enjoy the game. Bringing in the fact that you can use actual characters from the show, as well as progress through the actual show in the game shows a lot of promise. With proper support and steady updates from the developers the game could be a big success, if not it will be just another game out there.
